David Cameron to pressure Russia over lawyer’s death

Evening Standard

David Cameron has pledged to press Russia to investigate the death in custody of a lawyer who accused police of complicity in a £141 million tax fraud.

The Prime Minister, who will visit Russia this year, said he was “deeply concerned” by the death of Sergei Magnitsky, 37.

The corporate lawyer worked for the London-based chief executive of investment fund Hermitage Capital. He died following alleged maltreatment in jail in 2009, after accusing officials and police of involvement in fraud.

Dmitry Medvedev, the president of Russia, ordered an inquiry but the findings have not yet been published. In a letter to Hermitage boss William Browder, Mr Cameron said: “I am deeply concerned by …implications for the rule of law and respect for human rights.” payday loan займы онлайн на карту срочно https://zp-pdl.com/fast-and-easy-payday-loans-online.php https://zp-pdl.com/online-payday-loans-in-america.php hairy women
